Itinerary by Day
Day 1; pick up and drive to Masai Mara national reserve
On the first day of your safari, your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Nairobi and give you a briefing about the safari. From Nairobi, you will continue your safari to the Masai Mara national reserve, which will take approximately 4 to 5 hours.
You will check in for lunch at your lodge and then go on a game drive around the Masai Mara national reserve, looking for wildlife such as lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards, giraffes, hippos, antelopes, impalas, kudu, and waterbucks, among other species. You’ll return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay after this game drive.
Day 2; morning and afternoon game drives
In the Masai Mara national reserve, you will go on morning and afternoon game drives in search of elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, rhinos, wildebeests, giraffes, warthogs, impalas, and hartebeests, among other animals.
After breakfast at your lodge, you’ll go on an early morning game drive around the Masai Mara national reserve. You’ll also have lunch and go on a game drive in the afternoon. After a full day of exploring the Mara in search of wildlife, your guide will drive you to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3; Masai Mara to Serengeti national park
You will check out of your lodge after breakfast and be driven to Serengeti National Park by your guide. You’ll enter Tanzania through the Isebania border. On your way to your lodge in Serengeti National Park, you will enjoy an enroute game drive before dinner and an overnight stay at the Lodge / Camp.
Day 4; morning and afternoon game drives
Your full day in the Serengeti National Park will begin with breakfast at your lodge, followed by a morning game drive through the park, followed by lunch. You will go on an afternoon game drive in the national park after lunch. You’ll be on the lookout for lions, leopards, buffalos, elephants, giraffes, hippos, hyenas, warthogs, impalas, wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes during your afternoon game drive. Camps / lodges will be used for dinner and overnight.
Day 5; drive to Ngorongoro crater
After breakfast at your lodge, depart from the Serengeti National Park’s central section and transfer to the Ngorongoro Crater, another Big 5 destination. Approximately 600 meters will be descended into the Ngorongoro crater.
You will go on a game drive around the Ngorongoro crater, looking for black rhinos, elephants, lions, buffalos, rhinos, waterbucks, impalas, hippos, zebras, and wildebeests, among other animals, along the crater floor. Dinner and lodging will be provided by the Camps / Lodge.
Day 6; return to Arusha
Breakfast will be served at your lodge, and after checking out, you will be driven to Arusha, where your guide will drop you off at the airport, ending your 6-day Tanzania safari in the Mara and Serengeti.
